"East meets West (Song for Ewong)" premiers 8th of July!

This afternoon (by the time you read this) at the National Music for Youth Festival, held at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham - the UK's second city, not the one in Alabammy - a piece specially composed for our almost-one-eyed mystery elephant will be premiered.

The piece was commissioned by Helen Walton, a mahout course graduate and music teacher in the UK, it will eventually be available on CD to raise funds for the Foundation.

There will, of course, be more details to follow, but if you're in Birmingham and weren't already planning to go along then please do go and support the kids, be the first to publicly hear the East meets West (Song for Ewong).

Hi I was linked to this blog by Helen - my music teacher. I played bass saxophone in Birmingham yesterday with our quartet... What a great piece to play! And so glad it is all for a good cause.

    Hi John

Some piccys of the kids who played Ewong's piece - they all want to come & meet her now!!

I think I saw Ewong on the webcam the other day - unfortunately we are on dial up at home, so by the time I had got the camera to pan round they had gone but I am sure it was them.

This gives you an idea of the piece but is not the best recording! The Cd {a collection of saxophone music by British composer Paul Stiles including this piece commissioned by HCSC & dedicated to th beautiful EWong!}will be much better and should be available before Christmas to raise money for GTAEF and their quest for more land for the eles.
