Knocking politicians off the front pages (but even the new star cannot be caught napping)

I have to admit that I am not up to date with the English political scene, I know there was change of Prime Minister awhile back and then there was some talk of an election which had everyone out shaking babies and kissing hands - but it has to be said that it all seems pretty dull when compared with the chicanery, back room deals and floor crossing being practiced in the run up to the Thai election next month.

I do know, however, that when the leader of Her Majesty's opposition agrees to give an exclusive interview to a paper he may reasonably expect to get the front page and so it is with some apology to Mr Cameron that I reveal the front page of a recent newspaper - he may have got the banner but we got the column inches...

I'm not sure of Nam Khong's politics, or whether Mr Brown paid her to spike Mr Cameron's efforts to reach out to the junior vote but, whether being groomed as a child star or for the heady world of politics, I am happy to relate that she is still naive enough to let herself be caught napping by another hardened campaigner...

...it doesn't do to close your eyes for too long in the baby pen...

...even with an excellent and protective mother guarding against interfering humans who "just want a photo luv, where's the 'arm in that? - make 'er a star" because while Mum's guarding against the paparazzi there's a milk thief about...

...one that has a perfectly good milk producing mother of her own and is, in any case, perhaps the fattest and most spoiled elephant that ever there was - Lynchee.

Typically, of course, our other milk age baby, Pumpui - whose mother never produced and who has to be bottle fed in short drinks 24hrs a day - is refusing to help herself to this benign warm milk buffet.  As soon as we noticed Lynchee cheekily helping herself without any resistance from the big ele we introduced Pumpui to the mix.

'pui is an enthusiastic armpit sucker of everything she sees, from three year old male Tawan to ten year old Pleum, she has been so bothersome in this hunt for milk and affection that all the adults will hit her rather than allow her to even mock suckle - until now, finally, we have a calm mother who doesn't protest when known but reasonably random babies come for a drink.

So what does Pumpui do?  Perversely, she spends fifteen minutes viciously and pointlessly standing underneath Makam, scratching her back on the larger elephant's stomach and attacking her rear legs until even Makam's patience runs out and she receives a whack.

You can take a horse to water....

"This is Nong Nam Fo, the first elephant to be born at the Anatara Resort Golden Triangle......" It obviously pays to be photogenic.

Quite, I have always credited my success to my photogenic nature.

Shame they got her nickname wrong - Nam Fon - and forgot to say she is looked after by the Schmeizers and the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation!

Still, we can tell the world when they arrive.
