Young kids, young elephants...
Whenever the opportunity arises we invite local orphanages and child protection organisations to come into camp and meet the eles, the idea is borrowed from Katherine Connor and the Elephant Donation Project. It is great to see the kids when they first meet the elephants, or those who have come back three or four times, see their faces and teach them a bit about elephants.
Though Oi still finds herself too shy to give the 'elephant talk' we hope it is an educational as well as happy experience - we also chip in with lunch (Khun Chinnakid our financial controller donated some snacks - thanks K. Kid) and some ice cream up in the hotel.
Over the years the organisation we have worked closest with is the Development and Education Programme for Daughters and Communities and they recently had a chance to visit and Amp's new camera was on hand.
Nam Chok says hello, but where's Tong Suk?..
...well, where there's attention, it won't take long for the little one to soak up her fair share (and a little bit more)...
...a little ride about the place to work up an appetite...
...mmmm, all strangely silent!
