Is this the smallest thing to grow a trunk and call herself an elephant?
...well, I know she isn't, she's four months old and has never had her mother's milk - her mother never produced any - but she has had companionship in the form of a young elephant.
The mahouts ran out of money and saw the streets as their only option, so they came to us, luckily we had pledges in hand (full credits later after I return from Laos and tell the full story) and now we have two new rented additions - off the streets for at least a year.
Slightly daunting given the size and fragility of Tong Suk, the photo's below look almost normal until you remember that Nam Chok herself is only four years old, about the same size as Nong Dah and her mahout is a deal shorter than me. Anyway, we have various strategies to help her grow and she doesn't seem phased by the new surroundings so we have a charming new challenge.
...after Tawan, none of the locals gossip anymore about me buying baby milk, even though Aoy is in the Maldives...

...Nam Chok likes bamboo, Tong Suk likes attention.
