The bronze elephant strikes again (this time raising money for his fleshier counterparts)
Dear All
Some of you may remember the troubles I gave the laundry and the fun I had measuring up little Lynchee to help the Cox's from the Escar UK Bronze company make a statue of her. You may also remember the picture I sent of the new statue from the same company that graces our lotus pond.
Well, what I didn't say was that during their visit the Coxes and I discussed ways in which the bronze statues could help their more animated cousins. Replicas of our statue (modelled partially on Plai Boun Liang and Pang Wandi) can now be commissioned in the UK and Escar will donate a portion of the profits to the Foundation.
The initiative was started at Hampton Court Palace Flower show and the very first sale was made to Edward Fort O.B.E. who not only triggered a celebratory £500 donation from the Cox's but also undertook to donate a further £500 from his charity foundation.
The scheme is on going, if anyone would like a bronze that does some good the Coxs can, for now, be contacted through me but I will post links to their website as soon as I have them myself. I can vouch for the quality of their work and their thorough post sales service - I also know they do special commissions so a visit might end with you measuring up a treasured pet or relative; be warned!
Many thanks go out to Mr. Fort for the purchase but extra special thanks to the Cox's and Escar UK Bronze for volunteering to help out in such a constructive manner.
Many many thanks
John

ESCAR
SUPPORTING ELEPHANTS
Plai TAWAN
The name Escar has become synonymous with the elephant due to the huge public demand for their depictions of this wonderful animal in bronze.
They were proud to be approached by the Anantara Resort in Chiang Rai, sponsors of the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, to create a life-like study of a young bull elephant to grace the lake at the approach to the elephant camp. This was to coincide with Chiang Rai hosting a series of the international elephant polo tournaments for the first time in September this year.
He was installed June 2006 and has already attracted many fans.
The foundation has named him after one of their recently rescued elephants, Tawan – meaning “the sun” in
Our next project will be little Lychee, a mischievous three month old baby who has just arrived at the camp. For further information visit http://www.helpingelephants.org/
REPRODUCTIONS OF TAWAN CAN BE COMMISSIONED. THIS WILL TRIGGER A DONATION TO THE ELEPHANT CAMP AND ALL PURCHASERS WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS A “FRIEND OF THE FOUNDATION”.
